When I returned from Boston, I encountered a Thanksgiving Day parade on my way home from the subway. I had just seen little monkeys, at least little boys dressed as monkeys, at Tara's. This picture is for the little monkeys, Daniel and James.
I included this picture for Anna. One of these days, she will think that these dresses are soooo pretty.
On Friday after Thanksgiving, Todd and I traveled to a suburb of Madison Wisconson to have dinner with my niece Amber Jones and her family. She is quite the fireball. I included a picture of her beside the bed frame that she made! It looks fantastic! Very impressive.

Hiatus in Canada
I just returned from a quick trip to Canada. Todd had business meeting in a small resort town named Niagara on the Lake and I accompanied him. We stayed at the Prince of Wales Hotel.
Our room was really red. There was more red in that room than in my red bathroom in Austin. It was quite Victorian.
While I was there, I walked around the town to find the interesting things it held. I visited two forts, George and Missisagua. Apparently, some of the fiercest fighting in the war of 1812 was in and around Fort George. These two forts sit across the Niagara River from Fort Niagara in New York.
While walking down the main commercial street, I ran into this interesting sign. I had to include it for my son. I hope you can make out the Christmas tree behind the glare of the window.
On one of the days I was there, I rented a car and traveled to Toronto to visit a dear friend I had made years ago in Argentina. She resides in Canada with her family. We got to talk about our kids and the turns our lives had taken since we first knew each other. She has a wonderful family that continues to grow. I feel so lucky to know her!
By the way, the reason this picture is so blurry is because I am taking it. It did not realize how much skill it takes to take a picture of yourself. After all, I see my kids do it all the time.

Road Trip to Chicago
I left Saturday, October 2 in my white 2003 Saturn L200 from Provo with Chicago as my destination. Leaving Provo, I traveled through my favorite canyon. The leaves had already started to change to their fall colors. It was beautiful.
I kept tight to I-80 and passed a place I had been a few times.
I wanted to stop for lunch at the Texas Roadhouse Grill there but decided it was better to continue, next stop Chicago Illinois. I arrived sometime Sunday evening. It was nice to be "home."

Tim's Project
Tim has been working on several big project for his home. The first I will mention is the new windows in the back of his house. Tim will be finish the inside trim sometime this winter.
Tim has stripped and painted all the doors and door frame.
He cleaned up the old hardward for the doors and reused it. It is beautiful!
Another big project yet to be completed is replacing all the electrical. Tim started this big project by have the electrical main to his house updated. Tim had the entry point moved from the back of his house to the side. Because of this change, he will eventually not have any wires hung through the middle of his backyard. It was a very good idea.
Another big project Tim has started is the replacement of his heating system. He has now removed all of the pipes in the basement and radiators upstairs. This was a fire works kind of manly job.
This is where the radiator in the bathroom use to be.
Somehow, I did not get any pictures of the last big project Tim is working on. It is removing the old insulation in his attic and installing new. The last report I had is that all the old is out and the new is upstairs but not yet installed. Way to go Tim!!!

Being Inspired
I am not a person to change loyalties quickly. It takes me a while to warm up to anything new. This summer there has been a lot of new. Still, I would be foolish to fail to recognize the good in my life. This morning's walk woke me up to some of the wonderful and inspiring aspects of life in Chicago. Here are some pictures from my morning stroll:
They gardens just across the street from my building.
One of the bridges I get to cross. I love bridges!
A city vegetable garden.
A beautiful fountain built and dedicated by a loving sister to her brother after his death.
Then, apart from greeting the other exercising people, I also get to say hi to my neighbor. Yes, Abraham Lincoln. It is a great way to start a very fine day.

702's First Improvement
A Week In Heaven
I returned last week from Boston and a visit with Tara, Christian, and their lovely family. Unfortunately, I mistakenly left my camera in Provo. I ordered a new one in Chicago to take with me on my trip but it did not arrive in time due to Labor Day. As a result, I did not get to take any pictures of my wonderful grandchildren, even the new Anna. Still, I had a great time watching the miracle of their lives.
When I returned to Chicago, my camera was waiting. So, I took a picture of the one memory I had physical evidence of. Can you see the yellow spot? Thanks Anna.

Living in Texas
Todd choose an great apartment. This is where and how we live!
Do not let this picturesque view off of my balcony fool you. It is hot, Hot, HOT out there.
This is our main room. It is our office/dining/entertainment room. Our kitchen is located where I am standing when taking the pictures.
This is my desk. We clean up the far side of the desk when we eat our meals. Yes, can you believe the size of the TV. I want to know what I can possibly do with it once we reconcile with the rest of our stuff!
This is our bedroom. The air mattress is working great. As you can see, we do not use a blanket, only sheets. Does this bring back any memories?
