Chicago Spring

The "Occupy" movement has never grown to be a significant issue in Chicago. My hat goes off to the city and police. They did not allow them to live in the parks. Still, today was to be the protesters' big showing. They were to meet in several locations and march to the Federal Reserve Bank and then around Grant Park.

There were fewer than 100 people when we saw the protests from our window. They carried a banner that read "Chicago Spring". I suppose the protesters are trying to draw a connection with their grips and those of many in the Middle East. The people on bikes are the police escort. If you are wondering what the big pink things is they are carrying.....

... that would be a capitalist pig!

Glass Project 2

For my second glass project in Chicago, I designed and located a piece of glass in the wall between my kitchen and spare bedroom.

The design for the glass is a copy of the railing in Reliance Building on Washington and State in downtown Chicago. This building is historically significant in the development of Chicago architecture. It also has quite an interesting history. It currently holds the Hotel Burnham and Atwood Cafe. The central and repeated design in the window is a Gothic clover. The main textured glass used in the piece is the same pattern as the original glass on the privacy windows located in the halls of the building.

Architecture is such a big part of what makes Chicago grand! It is nice to have a piece of that history in my apartment.

Glass Project 1

I first fell in love with stained glass while living in Guadalajara, Mexico. After moving to Chicago, a city that is known for it's Tiffany glass, I tried my hand at some glass projects for Todd's den. Todd identified some historical figures he admired. Together we designed a glass panel to represent each one. Each piece includes three panels. The pieces hang in the top of the two windows in Todd's man cave.

Engagement!

Big News! Tim and Natalie are engaged! We are so happy for both of them. We are excited to have Natalie join our family. So far the big day will be sometime in May. We are looking forward to it!

Thanksgiving

When I returned from Boston, I encountered a Thanksgiving Day parade on my way home from the subway. I had just seen little monkeys, at least little boys dressed as monkeys, at Tara's. This picture is for the little monkeys, Daniel and James.

I included this picture for Anna. One of these days, she will think that these dresses are soooo pretty.


On Friday after Thanksgiving, Todd and I traveled to a suburb of Madison Wisconson to have dinner with my niece Amber Jones and her family. She is quite the fireball. I included a picture of her beside the bed frame that she made! It looks fantastic! Very impressive.

Favorite Things to Do

I got to visit my grandchildren for several day. We got to play and work on projects. I enjoyed both!

The Blessing of Anna

Tara and Christian waited until I was in Boston to name and give a blessing to Anna. I was honored to share this special time with their family.

Anna is a beautiful baby that is loved by all.
